Haven Crest Homes has earned a strong reputation among community partners for its unwavering commitment to culturally responsive, person-centered care. Local advocacy organizations have acknowledged the organization’s leadership for effectively supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in achieving greater independence, inclusion, and self-determination.
My grandson was diagnosed with Autism and ADHD at a young age. Over the years, he received various therapies, attended a supportive school, worked with great doctors, and made progress with medication. Eventually, his diagnosis shifted to Asperger’s Syndrome — he became more social, made eye contact, and began to express his needs more clearly.
As Project Director of the Self-Determination Project on Community Integration, I’ve had the pleasure of partnering with Haven Crest Homes since 2022. Our collaboration has focused on equipping staff and service providers with the tools and training needed to better support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in exercising self-determination.
As a parent of a child with special needs, placing your child in someone else’s care is never easy — it’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. But from the very beginning, Haven Crest Homes made the process feel safe, welcoming, and genuinely supportive.
The transition into the home was smooth, and every staff member I interacted with was kind, helpful, and attentive.

From the daily routines like getting him ready for school on time — something that used to be such a struggle — to creating joyful moments and helping him build life skills, the dedication of this team has truly changed everything for us.
